Elections Quebec 2022: This measure targeting elementary and secondary students would cost the state $40 million per year.

Québec solidaire wants to add two cultural outings to the agenda of elementary and secondary students.

The parliamentary leader, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, made the announcement on Tuesday in Rouyn-Noranda, accompanied by the candidate in Rouyn-Noranda-Témiscamingue, Émilise Lessard-Therrien.

The measure represents an expenditure of $40 million annually. That’s a value of about $40 per child or $20 per outing.

The left-wing party has already promised during the campaign tickets to attend cultural events worth $200 for immigrants to introduce them to Quebec culture.

Mr. Nadeau-Dubois believes that exposure to culture is a factor in academic success. “We know that the more students are in contact with culture, the more students have the opportunity to practice the arts, the less they drop out, the more they continue their studies after high school,” he said in a press release.
