Quebecers will have to reduce their electricity consumption if the Liberal Party (PLQ) takes power.
The PLQ aims to reduce consumption in Quebec by 16 terawatt-hours in order to launch its ECO green hydrogen project.
“Everyone will do their part, the vast majority [de cette diminution de la consommation] will be in the building sector, ”said Liberal leader Dominique Anglade on Monday, suggesting that there was going to be an announcement on Tuesday on this issue.
ECO is a vast project involving $100 billion in public and private investment aimed at producing hydrogen with hydroelectricity and renewable energy sources.
Hydrogen production requires a lot of electricity: a total of 100 additional terawatt-hours will be needed, produced with new wind and solar farms, but not new dams.
In the 100 terawatt-hours, no less than 16 terawatt-hours would therefore come from Quebecers’ energy savings,
This is the equivalent of twice the electricity produced by the Romaine power station on the North Shore, illustrated Liberal leader Dominique Anglade at a press conference in Laval. She was back for a second consecutive day in Mille-Îles, a Laval riding that the PLQ wants to keep.
The PLQ is struggling to sell ECO, this complex project which extends until 2050 and which is nevertheless one of the foundations of its electoral program.
Ms. Anglade talks about it in each of her speeches, but without explaining it in detail. On Monday, she acknowledged that she must continue her educational work.
ECO aims to produce hydrogen through an electrolysis process with hydroelectricity, so-called “green hydrogen”, because there are no greenhouse gas emissions. greenhouse (GHG) in the production process.
The hydrogen produced will be used as an alternative fuel in the transport sector, in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that are currently generated by the combustion of diesel, gasoline, etc.
Legault accused of making “shabby” remarks
François Legault makes “shabby” remarks that appeal to the lowest instincts. This is how Dominique Anglade described the most recent outing of the caquiste leader.
Mr. Legault suggested that raising the immigration threshold as the PLQ and QS want poses a threat to national cohesion.
At a press conference Monday in Laval, Ms. Anglade said that these statements came to pick her up personally. She is an immigrant herself, as her parents immigrated here from Haiti.
According to her, Mr. Legault is doing petty “mean” politics.
