Elections Quebec 2022: The leader of the CAQ attacks the leader of the Conservative Party.

Conservative leader Éric Duhaime wants an “every man for himself” society, accused chief caquiste François Legault on Monday.

“I really don’t think that’s the kind of society we want,” said Mr. Legault during a press briefing in Saint-Lazare.

The leader of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) went on the attack, reiterating the importance of social cohesion and mutual aid.

The day before, Mr. Legault had suggested that non-French-speaking immigration threatened the “cohesion of the nation”.

He portrayed Liberal leader Dominique Anglade, who railed against his comments, as someone “negative” on Monday.

Foray into the life of Marilyne Picard

The CAQ caravan stopped Monday morning at the residence of the candidate in Soulanges, Marilyne Picard.

The outgoing Prime Minister, his entourage and the media were invited to go upstairs to see Ms. Picard’s disabled daughter, Dylane.

The candidate explained all the steps to follow in order to prepare for a stay in a respite centre. The moment, touching, fit well with the announcement of the day of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ).

The party is proposing to invest $100 million over four years to add 500 places in respite centers to support parents of minor and major disabled children.

The deployment of these places will allow more parents to send their disabled children to spend time in these respite centers, whether for a day or for a few days, according to the CAQ.
