Elections Quebec 2022 | Rush to polling stations in the greater Quebec City region for advance polls

Voters in the greater Quebec City region rushed to the polls on Sunday for the first day of advance voting. The ridings of the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches indeed occupy the first six places in the list of the participation rate, as indicated by the data made public Monday by the Chief Electoral Officer of Quebec.

The Caquiste castle of Louis-Hébert, represented by the Deputy Prime Minister, Geneviève Guilbault, stands out with a record rate of 22.17%. The other ridings in the northern suburbs of Québec follow closely. Starting with Chauveau, in which the Conservative leader, Éric Duhaime, introduces himself. The duty was able to see this regional enthusiasm in the neighboring riding of La Peltrie — which is not, however, part of the top 6 — where voters had to wait more than an hour before registering their mark on their ballot on Sunday. The most impatient were also discouraged at the sight of the queue.

The average participation rate is 12.57% for all of Quebec. The northern electoral division of Ungava, which corresponds to the northern half of the territory of Quebec, occupies the penultimate rank, with 3.75%. The Îles-de-la-Madeleine close the march with 1.32% of voters who managed to vote despite the closure of polling stations in the archipelago following the passage of the hurricane Fiona.

The voters of the West Island of Montreal hardly moved. This is particularly the case in D’Arcy-McGee, one of the strongholds of the Liberal Party, which shows only 6.89% participation.
