The Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) wants to inject $40 million for the creation of 20 new research chairs in Québec studies in universities.
The chief caquist François Legault estimated Monday that these chairs would support research on the reality and ambitions of Quebec, in terms of language, culture, history, geography, politics, economic or social development.
This will make it possible to better understand, promote and defend the particularities of the Quebec approach, believes the CAQ, specifying that, since the 1990s, studies in this field have been in decline in Quebec universities.
Each chair will receive a maximum of $1.5 million over three years, with the possibility of renewal. Funding will be awarded through calls for projects that will be evaluated by an independent committee.
Further details will follow.
