Elections Quebec 2022 | Éric Duhaime assures that he is here to stay

Conservative leader Éric Duhaime intends to remain in politics even if he does not elect any MPs in the October 3 elections. Monday, he recalled having committed for ten years in the adventure.

“When I announced […] coming back to politics, I said it was a decade-long commitment. It’s just been a year and a half, ”said Mr. Duhaime during a press briefing in Laval on Monday morning.

For the third day in a row, the Conservative leader criticized the voting system whose “distortions” could mean that the Conservatives obtain 20% of the votes in Quebec without electing a candidate for the National Assembly.

However, there is still no question for him of demanding that this system be reformed because, he says, too many parties have done it before him, only to then back down.

The abandonment by the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) of the reform of the voting system was also part of the list of “ten broken promises” denounced in the press briefing of the Conservative Party on Monday morning.

This list also includes private healthcare, the third link in the East, healthcare waiting lists, hydrocarbon development, 4-year-old kindergarten, the GNL Québec project, waiting lists in daycare, the pedophile registry and shrinking the size of the state.

“The most significant promises of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) have been broken,” pleaded Mr. Duhaime.

Further details will follow.
