The Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) announced Thursday afternoon the suspension of the electoral campaign of leader François Legault due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Activities are expected to resume tomorrow, the party said.
The media advisory regarding Mr Legault’s campaign suspension was sent out shortly after the Queen’s death was confirmed. Earlier, doctors “concerned” about the health of the 96-year-old monarch had placed her under medical supervision.
Parti Québécois (PQ) leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon offered his “deepest condolences” to the royal family. However, he confirmed that he was not stopping his electoral campaign.
Further details will follow.
