(Paris) Emmanuel Macron, in the lead, would qualify for the second round of the presidential election in front of the far-right polemicist Eric Zemmour and the candidate of the National Rally Marine Le Pen, both neck and neck, according to a Harris poll Interactive for Challenges released Wednesday.
The outgoing head of state is credited with 23 to 30% of the voting intentions depending on the candidate who would run on the right, ahead of the putative candidate Éric Zemmour and Marine Le Pen, both at 16-17%, depending on the configurations tested.
In previous polls, Mr. Zemmour had passed Ms. Le Pen in the voting intentions of far-right voters, but the trend had reversed for two weeks and the candidate of the National Rally had taken two points ahead of the polemicist, author of numerous books on French society and undeclared candidate.
For the first time since the officialization in mid-October of the five candidates for the nomination of the right-wing party The Republicans, all are tested by Harris Interactive for Challenges: Xavier Bertrand would post the best score in the first round, at 14%, while ‘A candidacy from Valérie Pécresse would win 11%, Michel Barnier 10%, Éric Ciotti 5% and Philippe Juvin 4%.
On the left, Jean-Luc Mélenchon (extreme left) would reach 10%, whatever the configuration on the right, while Yannick Jadot (Green) would be at 8-9% and Anne Hidalgo (socialist) at 5%. Fabien Roussel would collect 2%, Arnaud Montebourg falling to 1% compared to the previous week.
Macron winning in the second round, regardless of the opponent
In the second round, Mr. Macron would be re-elected in all the configurations tested: 59/41% against Mr. Zemmour, 55/45% against Mr.me Le Pen, 54/46% against Mr. Bertrand, 58/42% if he was against Mr.me Pécresse, 59/41% for Mr Barnier and 64/36% against Mr Mélenchon.
Voting intentions do not constitute a forecast of the outcome of the ballot.
They give an indication of the balance of power and dynamics on the day of the survey.
Survey conducted online from November 19 to 22 using the quota method, with a sample of 2,624 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, including 2120 people registered on the electoral roll. Margin of error between 1 and 2.3 points.
