Produced on behalf of Coops de l’information, this survey by the firm Léger also indicates that more than 52% of Quebecers aged 8-12 believe that young people are capable of advising the government.

“We should not be surprised at the low rate of participation of young people in the democratic process considering that, from an early age, children do not feel considered by the government”, commented Tuesday by press release Catherine Maertens, analyst at Léger .

Nearly 34% of young people surveyed said that their priority as Prime Minister would be to improve access to health care, while 31% of them would like to have better schools.

The fight against bullying and the fight against poverty (29%) are also among the important considerations in the eyes of children, followed by the protection of the environment (28%).

Regarding the electoral race, 37% of respondents think that François Legault would make the best prime minister, ahead of Éric Duhaime (12%) and Dominique Anglade (11%). Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois follows with 9% and Paul St-Pierre Plamondon with 6%.

The Léger survey was conducted on the web among 500 Quebecers aged 8 to 12 between July 13 and July 21, 2022.
