The event occurred around 8 p.m. on Fredmir Street. A sign of Quebec Liberal Party candidate Brigitte Garceau was targeted.

“This type of vandalism sometimes happens during election campaigns, but in isolation. It does not seem to be several cases, ”said Émilie Charlevoix, section chief at the Montreal Fire Safety Service.

The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters and there was no further damage, Ms.me Charlevoix.

Since the beginning of the campaign, many signs, from all parties, have been vandalized, torn down or modified. To counter the numerous acts of vandalism, the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) has sent in recent days to all its constituency organizers stickers that read “let’s not give in to intimidation” which will be gradually affixed to the signs.
