The leader of the Parti Québécois (PQ), which has no seat in the National Assembly, said he wanted to focus on the provincial elections next October.

He accused Prime Minister François Legault of “playing politics with the date of the by-election”, which has still not been announced. “We are therefore heading towards a partial which will be held in several months, in 2022, that is to say a few months before the general elections”, he argued.

For Marie-Victorin, the PQ leader announced that he will unveil “in the coming days” the candidacy of a person “with a local dimension […], but also present on the national scene ”.

“We will, I am sure, be able to take back the riding we love so much,” he wrote.
