eighteen people arrested “in the last 48 hours”

These arrested people are being presented “at the moment to justice”, the Minister of the Interior said on Thursday.

While bomb threats have been increasing since the attacks in Arras and Brussels, the Minister of the Interior announced on Thursday October 19 on BFMTV that there was “had 18 arrests by the police in the last 48 hours, mainly minors”. Numerous threats caused evacuations in airports and at the Palace of Versailles or even at the Louvre Museum.

A little later, on the set of the show “L’Evènement”, on France 2, Gabriel Attal indicated that behind these alerts were sometimes “students aged 11, 12, 13, 14”. In total, “299” false alarms have been recorded since the start of the school year, including “75” this Thursday, added the Minister of Education.

These arrested people are presented “at the moment to justice”added the Minister of the Interior. “It is obvious that the general dysfunction caused by these false bomb calls, in schools, in museums, disorganizes our security services, prevents society from functioning when there is no clear threat”continued Gérald Darmanin.

“I tell everyone: we find everyone”

“We have put a lot of resources into identifying telephone lines, including when we call hidden. We are able to find IP addresses, telephone numbers. I tell everyone: we can find everyone”warned the Minister of the Interior.

For Thibault de Montbrial, lawyer and president of the Center for the Analysis of Terrorism, interviewed Thursday evening on franceinfo, false bomb alerts are not “not the work of little jokers”.

“I think these are scouts, with tests” from “terrorist groups who are ready to strike France”, he estimated.
