Anti-Semitism: 8 minors arrested after anti-Semitic chants in the Paris metro

The video went viral on social media. On October 31, a young girl filmed herself on line 3 of the Paris metro while other people on the train began chanting anti-Semitic and pro-Palestinian remarks. In total, eight minors aged 11 to 17, suspected of being the authors of these anti-Semitic comments, were taken into custody by the railway brigade, responsible for the investigation.
Suspects not domiciled in Paris
Since October 7, a wave of anti-Semitic acts has crossed France, according to representatives of the Jewish faith. “Following the tragedies of October 7, we could have imagined a surge of solidarity, a surge of empathy in our society, it is a surge of anti-Semitism that we experienced“, regrets Joël Mergui, president of the Jewish consistory of Paris. None of the suspects being domiciled in Paris, the public prosecutor’s offices of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) and Bobigny (Seine-Saint-de-Denis) will be responsible for the following the investigation, initially opened by Paris for acts of public insult, provocation to hatred, violence or racial discrimination and apology for terrorism.
