The TV doesn’t take a break during the summer. Especially not the platforms. Here are eight fiction programs and series that we promise to watch at the slightest sign of rain, cold… or a heat wave.

Leo

Leo

Leo is a safe bet. It’s full of good feelings, but never corny. For its fourth season, the comedy is taking a five-year leap forward. Now married, our friendly antihero played by Fabien Dupuis has quit his job at Dubeau Gateaux and now works on a vegetable farm in Walton. The trailer is irresistible, especially the extract where Paul (Alexi Robidoux), the little boy of the couple Léo-Cindy (Marie-Laurence Moreau), meets the son of Dugars (Sébastien Dubé of Denis Drolet), another little boy named… Maiden, as in Iron Maiden. Directed by Jean-François Chagnon (like me, Appendices), these new episodes are signed by Fabien Cloutier, Steve Laplante, Sonia Cordeau and Erika Soucy.

The Boys

One of the most anticipated sequels of 2022. Nominated in two important categories at the last Emmy Awards (best drama series and best texts), The Boys portrays superheroes as corrupt, narcissistic, arrogant, evil, and violent beings. It’s politically incorrect, funny and captivating. In this undoubtedly subversive third season, Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie (Jack Quaid) resume the fight against Homelander (Antony Starr) and company after a one-year truce. Based on the trailer, we can hope for even more swear words and bloodshed.

God’s Favorite Idiot

God’s Favorite Idiot

Because we really love the couple Melissa McCarthy-Ben Falcone, both in front of and behind the camera, we’re curious to take a look at this eight-episode comedy that tells the story of a technical assistance employee (Falcone ) who finds love in the arms of a colleague (McCarthy) when – unbeknownst to him – he becomes the messenger of God. Also on the program: roller skating, a lake on fire and the imminence of the apocalypse. Nothing less !

Cerebrum

Cerebrum

Three years later, the second season of Cerebrum finally arrives. But this time, it is François Papineau who plays the role of psychiatrist Henri Lacombe, neglected by Claude Legault due to professional exhaustion. According to the first echoes, Papineau would deliver a whole performance in this sequel, which revolves around an investigation into the murders of young women led by Simone (Christine Beaulieu) and Danno (Olivier Gervais-Courchesne). Alexis Martin, Marie-Chantal Perron, Micheline Lanctôt, Marie-Thérèse Fortin, Virginie Fortin, Myriam Leblanc, Frédéric Pierre, Sonia Vachon and Anglesh Major also appear in the credits.

mixmania

Mixmania: 20 years later

Come on everybody, it’s time to fly away… Ah! Nostalgia for the early 2000s, when you hold us! The generation that relished No regrets and Urban defense can’t wait for this one-hour documentary in which Bianca Gervais, who wears the double hat of director and host, will revisit the phenomenon mixmania. Two decades later, what legacy has this reality show left? What memories did the participants keep? And a question of curiosity: will we act as if Luck Mervil had never hosted the show by erasing it from the archive footage? (In 2018, the Rudeluck singer was convicted of sexually exploiting a 17-year-old girl.)

larry

larry

larry is not just a series. It marks the reunion of the author-director tandem Stéphane Bourguignon-Patrice Sauvé, 20 years later life, life. Composed of 10 one-hour episodes, this new offering paints the portrait of a former policeman (played by Benoît Gouin) who became a security guard after falling out of favor for corruption. A drama involving two rival gangs will push him to reconnect with his past as an infiltrator, a game that will prove to be much more dangerous than expected… Monique Spaziani, Macha Limonchik, Anglesh Major, Sharon James and Irdens Exantus complete the cast.

The drag in me

The drag in me

In this new series, Rita Baga, alias Jean-François Guèvremont, helps a person transform their appearance for a wedding, a prom, a birthday, a renewal of vows or any type of special event. To achieve this, she will be accompanied by two drag queen friends. In all likelihood, the glitter budget will be high. This is the Quebec adaptation of the American format Dragnificent!, airing on TLC. Made up of 13 30-minute episodes, this production by Trio Orange (Tower, animal shelter) will exploit the flamboyant personality of Rita Baga, who continues to impose herself on the small screen, two years after having distinguished herself at Canada’s Drag Race.

House of the Dragon

House of the Dragon

Bereaved fans of Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister and Arya Stark will definitely be curious to check out this spin-off series. Game Of Thrones (The iron Throne) whose story predates the action recounted in the original work by 200 years. Uploaded earlier this month, first images hint at an epic series inspired by the novel Fire & Blood by George RR Martin, which will revolve around the ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy will appear in the credits, but if we believe the death count in Game Of Thrones, we do not know for how long! According to information provided by Crave, House of the Dragon will also be offered in a version with French subtitles… and “very possibly” in a French dubbed version.
