Eight French nationals went missing on Monday October 9 after the coordinated attack by Hamas on Israel on Saturday October 7, the Radio France correspondent in Jerusalem learned from a diplomatic source.

On Sunday October 8, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs already announced the death of a French national in a press release. “We learned with sadness of the tragic death of a compatriot in Israel in the context of the terrorist attacks.” In his press release,The Quai d’Orsay is also seeking to “clarify the situation of several nationals who could not be located” and declares to be “in permanent contact with their families and in contact with the Israeli authorities”specifies the press release.

A crisis unit is open at the ministry to “assist the French community and French people passing through” in Israel.

The Quai d’Orsay press release also calls for the release of the Israeli hostages: “The heinous hostage-taking by Hamas of men, women and children is a reminder, if necessary, of the terrorist nature of this movement. France calls for their immediate and unconditional release”also indicates this press release.
