Wednesday, June 8, the group of retirement homess has been the subject of numerous complaints for “endangering the lives of others” or “non-assistance to a person in danger”. A new case after the Orpea scandal.

Wednesday, June 8, thirty complaints were filed against Korian, the French number one retirement home. Two sisters, who had placed their father in a Korian facility a year ago, quickly suspected abuse. “Dad, after two weeks, he had a pressure sore on one heel”, says Elisabeth Segalen, a complainant. Her father also wore pads day and night, as the staff did not take him to the toilet.

In all, eighteen families have filed complaints for endangering the lives of others, failure to assist a person in danger and manslaughter. Their lawyer, Sarah Saldmann, is already at the origin of the complaints against the Orpea group for similar facts. “The goal of the people I represent is obviously to honor the memory of their father or their mother, but also to ensure that the system changes in the long term”, assures Sarah Saldmann. She denounces a lack of personnel and institutional mistreatment. In France, Korian has 298 nursing homes.
