Egypt: four French tourists perished in a bus accident

Four French tourists died in a bus accident in Aswan, Egypt, Wednesday April 13. The bus carrying them collided with a car on a desert road.

Of the accident there is no more only one wreckage, a completely charred tourist bus in the middle of a desert road in southernEgyptWednesday, April 13. A few hours earlier, the bus collided with a fisherman’s vehicle. Two men with fire extinguishers tried to put out the fire, but were unsuccessful. The accident left 10 dead, including 4 French, one Belgian and 5 Egyptians. Fourteen other tourists are injured, including 8 French. A relative of a victim says: “Unfortunately, my brother-in-law’s mother could not get out of the bus in time before the explosion”.

The tourists had left Aswan, on their way to visit the famous temple of Abu Simbel (Egypt). At the university hospital, where the wounded are taken care of, the director of the hospital wants to be reassuring. “For nine or ten of the injured, the injuries are light, they have been prescribed treatment and we have let them out”said Dr. Ashraf MabadDirector of University Hospitals of Aswan (Egypt). Road accidents are common in Egypt. The roads are often poorly maintained and the rules of the road not respected.
