Being a student today in France is expensive. It takes 7,118 euros on average per year for housing, registration or even food. These are expenses that vary greatly depending on the course chosen. For a student in business school, it takes 10,735 euros of budget on average, 9,733 euros in engineering school. At university, it is much cheaper: €6,473.

To finance their studies, students have an average budget of 919 euros each month. 42% of this money comes from their family, 25% odd jobs. Next come public aid: 38% of students are on scholarships. Where French students are rather winners is in tuition fees in public establishments. They are among the lowest in OECD countries. It takes 205 euros on average, in license, while in Italy, these costs amount to 1,773 euros.
