Eden, the 9-year-old child who disappeared in the Landes, found safe and sound

The little boy had not given any sign of life since Thursday afternoon in Soustons. He was found with his father by the Lot-et-Garonne gendarmes.

It’s the end of a painful wait. Missing since Thursday, Eden, 9 years old, was found on Friday February 9 in the afternoon by the police in Saint-Géraud, in the Lot-et-Garonne department, France Télévisions learned from the prosecutor from Dax. Around thirty Landes gendarmes, as well as a helicopter from Bayonne, had been mobilized since Friday morning to try to find the little boy.

SAccording to the Dax prosecutor’s office, Eden was picked up from school by his mother on Thursday, then handed over to his father at 5 p.m., the couple being separated. The mother raised the alarm around 6 p.m., the child’s schoolbag and phone having been found in a ditch by a witness.

A psychological unit at school

A source close to the investigation, cited by France Bleu Gascogne, described the child’s father as depressed and adhering to conspiracy and survivalist theories. It was “unknown to the police and gendarmerie”, specifies the prosecution. His phone was found at his home, in Magescq (Landes), in his “mobile home”. “The first acts of investigation made it possible to establish that the departure [du père] seemed planned (…) but with the intention of not being able to be geolocated”underlines the floor.

A psychological unit was set up Friday morning at the Soustons elementary school, where Eden attends school, the mayor of the town, Frédérique Charpenel, confirmed to France Bleu Gascogne.
