Eddy Mitchell announces becoming a priest on France Télévisions

At 81, retirement is still far away for our national Eddy Mitchell. This November 3, 2023, on RTLthe singer of “The last session” came to talk about his new book, “My ideal nightclub”, where he cites James Brown, Bill Haley and Frank Sinatra, among others, with Alba Ventura. And the former member of Chaussettes Noirs and Vieilles Canailles also spoke about his other projects, outside of bookstores.

“I play the role of a priest for a guy called Monk, that’s normal

After the release of his book, on October 12, 2023, he will tour in “very little time” a TV film in Heugon (Orne) with Laurent Gerra and Rufus for France Télévision produced by Albertine Productions and directed by Hélène Fillières. He explains about this new role: “I play the role of a priest for a guy called Monk, that’s normal“, not without humor.

A new collaboration between the two friends, who presented together “On credit and in stereo“, a show captured in May 2021 at the Théâtre du Gymnase. At the time, Laurent Gerra and Eddy Mitchell brought together nine musicians including two pianists, four brass players, and even a bar. On stage, they performed around twenty hits from the repertoire of Eddy Mitchell but also of Serge Gainsbourg, Johnny Hallyday, Patrick Bruel and even Céline Dion, whom Laurent Gerra imitates wonderfully. We can imagine the atmosphere on the set of the France Télévision TV film!

“Not retired at all”

It’s not all on Eddy Mitchell’s side. Subsequently, the interpreter of “On the road to Memphis” also prepare “an album to be released for Christmas. He must also “make another film with Fred Testot”. “So I’m very busy.” assured the one who is not “no way” retired !
