Customs officers at Brussels airport in Belgium have got their hands on fake chocolate bunnies, made from synthetic drugs.
Behind the walls of Brussels airport (Belgium), tens of thousands of parcels pass through Belgium every day, destined for the whole world. As Easter approaches, customs officers made an unusual discovery by scanning the contents of a box: rabbits made from synthetic drugs. “It’s MDMA. We have one or two kilos of it. With one kilo, you can make about 6,000 ecstasy pills”says the customs officer.
Belgium, a hub for synthetic drugs
The rabbits were on their way to Hong Kong. Belgium is one of the gateways for cocaine in Europe, but has also become a hub for synthetic drugs. In the customs office, the catches are daily. Ecstasy pills are found hidden in a vitamin bottle, liquid ketamine in snow globes. The drug is produced in Belgium or the Netherlands, in laboratories, before being exported to countries where narcotics are very expensive.
