Economy class | Lufthansa will test the return of free drinks

(Frankfurt) The German airline Lufthansa said on Monday that it would “test” this summer the return of the free offer of drinks, such as tea or coffee, on short and medium-haul flights in economy class.

“We are currently studying the possibility of offering certain drinks again free of charge, such as coffee or tea, in economy class” on short and medium-haul flights, a company spokesperson told AFP.

This offer will be tested during the summer period, he added, and will be used to “record customer reaction and satisfaction”.

This announcement should contribute to an improvement in the service offering on short and medium-haul flights.

The leading European air transport group stopped its free drinks and snacks service in the summer of 2021, replacing them with a paid offer.

On the current menu, tea costs 3 euros ($4.44) and coffee 3.50 euros ($5.18). You have to pay 2.50 euros ($3.70) for a pretzel.
