Sunday, August 28, the First Minister Élisabeth Borne announced the creation of a green fund endowed with 1.5 billion euros to help communities make the ecological transition.

In Besancon (Doubs)large-scale work has been carried out to renovate a school and have the walls and roof changed to adapt to the ecological transition. “We also put photovoltaics for self-consumption, a green roof”describes Christophe Bergerot, the director of the architecture department at the town hall of Besançon. The total cost of the work will amount to 60 million euros to renovate the 64 schools in the city.

Energy consumption will be halved thanks to these new installations. The creation of a green fund of 1.5 billion euros could greatly help local authorities to carry out this work. “We can only be satisfied on that (…) after that we will have to see more concretely how it will turn out”reveals Fanny The crossvice-president of theFDMA. The details of this budget allocated to the energy transition should be unveiled in the fall.
