The environmental deputy of Val-d’Oise Aurélien Taché was sentenced Wednesday to a fine of 5,000 euros in Niort (Deux-Sèvres) for having insulted the police who intervened after an attack of which he had been the victim in a bar of this city . He will also have to pay 250 to 500 euros to the police who have joined as civil parties, his lawyer said on Friday September 9.
On the night of February 8 to 9, 2022, the deputy was attacked in a bar in Niort, his hometown, then insulted the BAC agents called to intervene, according to media reports. His lawyer had assured at the time of the facts that Aurélien Taché had received “many blows, especially to the head and face”, during the attack.
The deputy, who was the subject of an appearance on prior admission of guilt in Niort, “assumed his responsibilities by appearing before his judges and acknowledging the facts for which he was prosecutedsaid his lawyer. This sentence is fair and proportionate and we are satisfied with it.”
She assured that her client had been able to explain himself on the “very difficult personal context in which the facts took place” and it was “excused at length to the police to whom he recalled his republican attachment in his capacity as an elected official and a citizen”.
Aurélien Taché, a former socialist, was elected deputy in 2017 under the LREM label before resigning from Emmanuel Macron’s party three years later. Re-elected last June under the Nupes label, he sits with the environmental group. He is also president of a small party, the New Democrats.
