A shot fired in the middle of the afternoon. Two students beaten up by hooded suspects. A violent altercation between young people that occurred at the end of classes at Curé-Antoine-Labelle high school in Laval on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old teenager.

The Laval Police Department (SPL) intervened at the Latour pavilion at Curé-Antoine-Labelle school shortly after 3 p.m.

A gray Nissan with four hooded occupants on board came to a stop in the parking lot. Two 17-year-olds then get out of the suspect vehicle. The duo attempt to kidnap a teenage boy of the same age who was just leaving school. A friend of the person concerned wanted to intervene. Both victims were beaten and sustained minor injuries.

One of the suspects, aged 17, fired in the air before fleeing by car.

“The investigation made it possible to locate his vehicle in the Sainte-Dorothée sector in Laval,” explains Stéphanie Beshara, spokesperson for the police force. A large perimeter has been erected on Maisonneuve Street. The alleged shooter was checked in the evening. First arrested for assault and attempted kidnapping, he was released with conditions after meeting with investigators.

The director of the school service center, Yves Michel Volcy, spoke by email following the altercation involving one of his students. ” [On] made sure to deploy a team of professionals to the school this morning to support the students as needed. The school administration will also meet with the school staff this morning to allow all members of the school team to keep a watch on the students. ”

Management ensures full collaboration with the Laval police, whose investigation is continuing.

A school team accompanied by socio-community agents was on site Wednesday morning to welcome the students in complete safety, confirms the management of the establishment in a short message addressed to the parents of the students.
