Eclipse | Estrie and Beauce will have the best visibility

Visibility will be best in Estrie, Beauce and New Brunswick to observe the total solar eclipse on Monday afternoon, according to Météomédia.

The channel expects “excellent” visibility in these regions. She adds that the “majority of southern Quebec” should be spared “despite the presence of a cloud system south of the border.”

Montérégie, on the other hand, could have cloud cover.

Visibility should be “good” in the Montreal region, where Météomédia predicts a “sky veiled with a few clouds”. However, these will be “very thin high-level clouds which will not completely block the visibility of the sun”.

These clouds could, on the other hand, “bring a very special touch to the eclipse”, says the channel, since “cirrus or cirrostratus clouds would enhance the observation by acting as a projection screen, modifying the colors diffused by the eclipse”.

Météomédia anticipates “partial visibility” in southeastern Ontario and Montérégie.

The partial eclipse will begin around 2:15 p.m. across Quebec and maximum totality will be reached around 3:30 p.m. The partial eclipse will end between 4:30 p.m. and 4:40 p.m., depending on the region.

In Fredericton, the phenomenon begins at 3:23 p.m. and peaks at 4:36 p.m.
