Secours populaire has launched a call for witnesses to find the culprits after the burglary of a 600 square meter warehouse. The equivalent of 300,000 euros worth of clothes, toys and household appliances were stolen.

Tons of new equipment representing almost a year of collection were stolen. “I can’t get over it, new clothes, new toys, electronic equipment, a whole action that we have collected for a little over eight months”, confides, moved, Nabil Chetouf, the secretary general of Secours populaire français, of the Isère federation. The 30,000 beneficiaries of the Isère association were to benefit from this equipment.

“We are in a kind of delirium and dehumanization”

Two new vehicles were also destroyed. “For me, the people who did this are not a person, they are a group…if they have a little humanity in them they say to themselves ‘we shouldn’t have touched an association’, maybe no matter the association, an association serves the population. What are we going to say to the families? We can’t help you because thugs carried out a ransacking, a looting, on Christmas Eve ?”, adds Nabil Chetouf. Sylvette Rochas, deputy mayor of Échirolles in charge of solidarity, came to the site to see the damage, she denounces relentlessness. “We are in a kind of delirium and dehumanization of human behavior which really calls out.” Secours populaire called for solidarity and launched a call for witnesses to try to find the perpetrator(s) of this burglary.
