A successful first in St Symphorien! For its first official match of the season in L2, FC Metz did not shake and won easily, 3-0 against Amiens.
The Garnets folded the match in less than 30 minutes: Lamine Gueye opened the scoring at 19′, Georges Mikautadze doubled the bet just before the break and Ibrahima Niane sealed the victory for Lorraine at the start of the second half.
The only downside: the expulsion at the end of the game of Warren Tchimbembé, only 12 minutes after coming into play, after collecting two yellow cards.
After a dark year in L1, the club at the Croix de Lorraine seems to have found its colors.
Formidable efficiency in front and behind
During this meeting, the Garnets notably showed a formidable efficiency. This is ” surgical realism “, even explained, Christophe Delmotte, assistant coach of FC Metz, who replaced coach Laslo Bölöni on the bench, in solitary confinement due to Covid.
The Garnets only framed four of their shots and scored three times. Gueye, Niane, and Mikautadze did not tremble in front of the Picardy cages and they also had, it must be recognized, a brown of success; the Georgian striker’s shot hitting the post in particular, before ending up in the back of the Amiens net. In attack, the liveliness and technical quality of Lorraine made the difference.
Efficiency in front, but also behind: Picardy opportunities were rare and the boss of the Messina defense Kiki Kouyate held the barracks perfectly…Special mention also to goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja. Relegated to the bench during last season by Fred Antonetti, but replaced No. 1 by his predecessor, the Algerian international, remained calm and brought all his experience to this young and attractive Metz team. The garnet public also appreciated this first victorious outing, applauding the 11th Messin for a long time. The reconquest and recovery operation has started well… Hope it lasts!
Mikautadze, future prince of St Symphorien
A goal and an assist. For his first tenure with FC Metz, the Georgian international delighted the public of St Symphorien. After having terrified the defenses of the Belgian championships, these last two seasons, Georges Mikautadze delivered a successful performance. His qualities, such as mischief, ball-to-foot technique and above all efficiency have spoken!
Thanks to Mikautadze, but also Jallow and Mazizthe former fiery trio of Seraing, the satellite club of FC Metz in Belgium, the Garnets are already advancing with certain certainties on the offensive level.
Next match for FC Metz, Monday August 8, in Caen, which won yesterday in Nîmes, one to zero.
