(Saint-Sébastien) A cyclist lost his life in an accident involving a pickup truck on Sunday evening in the municipality of Saint-Sébastien, in the Eastern Townships.
The collision took place around 6 p.m. on Route 263 near Route de la Station. The van with a trailer attached was traveling in the same direction as the cyclist.
“The truck would have hit the cyclist for a reason that still remains to be determined at this time,” said Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (QS).
The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A reconstructionist from the SQ went on site to clarify the causes and circumstances surrounding this event. Route 263 is currently closed to traffic for the duration of the investigation.
