Chantal Rouleau said Monday, on the sidelines of a press conference, that the Quebec government was working to formalize the possibility for the City of Montreal to have a voice in the matter.

“Last week, I was not discouraged. Last week, there were things that were said, ”said the minister, referring to the unfavorable reports about the project. “I am always optimistic and very enthusiastic. […] We look forward, we continue to work. »

On Saturday, The Press revealed that François Legault had proposed to Valérie Plante the creation of a working group in order to “discuss possible improvements to the current route and the project as a whole”. The objective: to obtain support for the mayor’s project, a condition sine qua non to its realization, according to the Prime Minister.

On Monday, Chantal Rouleau argued that the negotiation work was continuing.

“From the beginning the City has participated in these discussions, but here, we are making it more formal,” she said. “From the start, the City has been there. Each of the partners is there. We want to adjust [la gouvernance] because layout is extremely important. […] We are in the process of finding the right way to have governance that will be satisfactory. »
