“The further east you move, the greater the accumulations will be,” summarized Frédéric Dubuis, meteorologist at Environment Canada. “In Gaspésie, we expect 20 to 40 cm,” he explained.

It had already fallen nearly 15 cm in the afternoon on Sunday in Sept-Îles, on the North Shore, where a system left snowflakes from Friday evening. However, “it is the arrival of the next system for this night which will still leave more snow”, specified the expert on Sunday.

“For the Côte-Nord, in Baie-Comeau and Sept-Îles, we will also be around 15 cm, and it is really from Minganie, Natashquan, that we will have more 20 to 40 cm. »

The coastal regions of Gaspésie and Côte-Nord must also expect strong winds which, coupled with precipitation, will affect visibility on the roads. The gusts could reach 60 km/h.

Further to the southwest, the rain could turn to snow in Quebec City during Sunday evening. Some higher places in Estrie could see an accumulation of snow. In both cases, only a few centimeters were expected on Sunday.

The Environment Canada website also indicated light snow showers in progress in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, and Nord-du-Québec on Sunday.
