Eastbourne Tournament | Gauff dismisses Pegula and will play the semis

(Paris) American Coco Gauff, 7e world, qualified Thursday for the semi-finals of the Eastbourne grass-court tournament by dismissing her compatriot Jessica Pegula (4e) 6-3, 6-3.

Gauff, who made a name for herself by beating Venus Williams in the first round of Wimbledon in 2019, had yet to win this year against a player from the top 10.

She will try to reach the final by facing another of her compatriots, Madison Keys (25e), who dominated the Croatian Petra Martic (30e) 6-4, 6-1.

Gauff and Pegula teamed up in doubles at Eastbourne where they qualified for the semi-finals.

The other semi-final will oppose the Russian Daria Kasatkina (11e), who benefited from the abandonment of the French Caroline Garcia (5e), Italian Camila Giorgi (67e) also benefited from the abandonment of the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (17e). Giorgi led a set to nil 7-6 (10/8).
