East Coast Music Awards | Lisa Leblanc’s Chiac Disco album stands out

(Halifax) Acadian singer-songwriter Lisa Leblanc saw her most recent album chic disco be rewarded, during the first part of the awards ceremony on 35e East Coast Music Awards (ECMA).




The New Brunswick-born artist won Thursday night a prize in the French-language recording of the year category at the event that celebrates music from Canada’s east coast.

A total of 15 winners were announced during the evening, which took place at the Scotiabank Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Singer-songwriter David Myles, who had four nominations, won album of the year and solo recording of the year for It’s Only A Little Loneliness.

The room Lighthouse in Little Lorraine by Adam Baldwin was recognized as song of the year. And Kellie Loder of Newfoundland and Labrador was chosen Composer of the Year as well as People’s Choice Artist of the Year.

St. John’s duo Fortunate Ones won the folk recording of the year category for That Was You and Me.

Nova Scotia band The Trews take home rock recording of the year with their album Wandererwhile Juno-winning outfit The East Pointers walked away with the award for Group Recording of the Year with House of Dreams.

The East Pointers topped the gala nominations with six nominations, as did rapper Classified, whose name was not called Thursday night but is up for more awards this weekend.

The second part of the ECMA awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday. It has been announced that the event will be held in Charlottetown in 2024.
