19/20 info receives the Secretary of State to the Minister of Ecological Transition, Sarah El Haïry. Born in France, to Moroccan parents, she talks about this tragedy which affects her directly.

“Morocco is experiencing a tragedy, a tragedy in terms of the number of deaths. The earthquake hit the country enormously, with more than 2,700 dead and almost as many injured. News is still trickling in, especially for the territories furthest from Marrakech.”explains Sarah El Haïry, Secretary of State to the Minister of Ecological Transition. Asked about Morocco’s lack of response to French aid, Sarah El Hairy replies that she “sees a surge of solidarity in Morocco, which comes from throughout the kingdom. Next door, the brotherly French people are mobilizing”she specifies.

Supporting the surge of solidarity

What is necessary is to immediately offer aid to Morocco, this is what France traditionally does. Now aid is arriving through other channels. French communities are getting involved. Morocco, when it decides to have access to human material from France, we will be there“, continues the Secretary of State. The main thing is the momentum of solidarity to support, because there are needs and they are real”she concludes.
