In a town in the High Atlas, destroyed by the earthquake, a French hotel manager turned her establishment into a storage and distribution location. With the inhabitants, she tries to breathe life into this battered village.
In Morocco, just 30 km from the epicenter of the earthquake, Kenza Fenjiro discovers the extent of the destruction. This hotel manager ensures: “We feel like life has stopped.” The Kenza family fell in love with this High Atlas valley. His father created a hotel there. To help the residents, she decided to make the hotel a storage and distribution place. “There are a lot of donations that have arrived. […] We, citizens, are here to bring comfort and human warmth.”she explains.
Revive life in the village
In the village, Kenza has an association which helps women and children. The premises were badly damaged. So, they try to save the essentials. “What was important was to get things going again. Being able to make bread has great symbolism. […] We miss a lot of things about them. We still have to sort out a lot of things, but it’s doable.”, assures Kenza. She hopes to little by little restore hope to this village destroyed by the earthquake.
