Despite being placed on injured reserve earlier this week, Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has good reason to be optimistic about his return to action.
The forward actually participated in morning training on Thursday, with his teammates who had an evening meeting with the Carolina Hurricanes. However, the hockey player was wearing a jersey prohibiting body checking, which did not prevent him from skating with intensity and taking shots or making passes.

Larkin was badly shaken by a charge from Mathieu Joseph and Parker Kelly of the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Early in the match, he retreated to the locker room with the help of the trainers after momentarily losing consciousness following a blow to the head. His teammate David Perron wanted to avenge him by delivering a double check to Artem Zub’s face: the Quebecer received a six-match suspension for his action.
For now, Larkin’s return date remains undetermined. He scored 25 points in 24 games this season.
