Between cycling and music, Dylan Corlay did not want to choose. Comic orchestra, the show he imagined with the Symphony Orchestra of Tours, united his two passions. And as usual, it is by bicycle that he reaches the city where he is playing that Sunday. Helmet on his head, stage jacket on his shoulders and baguette in hand, he is accompanied by a dozen cyclists on the road that leads him to the Dianetum, the performance hall of Anet in Eure-et-Loire.
“I find it nice to ride with future spectators,” he slips between two pedal strokes, before thanking his fellow travelers and going on stage for another performance. Whether he is wearing a bicycle or a tailcoat, the same fantasy and the same spirit of discovery. Comic Orchestra is a mixed revisited symphonic masterpieces, situational comedy and improbable arrangements from Mozart to Montand, all treated in a festive and playful manner. A confusing repertoire which immediately seduced the musicians.
“He trusts orchestral musicians as well as the public for a sharing that does not exist anywhere else, for me he is a genius, says Tiphaine Gaigne
violinist with the orchestra of Tours. There is a tremendous amount of work behind everything he does even though it feels like it’s super natural. It’s crazy work, everything is thought out from A to Z and we are just the performers. It’s a huge chance to be able to do that. “
The orchestra has a real role, it’s a character.
Dylan corlayconductor
Graduated from the Paris Conservatory, the conductor is a jack of all trades. Piano, harmonica, tap, and even magic, on stage he does not forbid himself anything and keeps the bike as a common thread. “We can say that it is an atypical show in the sense that it is rare to see a symphony orchestra like that which is actually staged, explains Dylan Corlay. So it’s a real duo that we experience, we launch small challenges. We do not communicate by speech but by small objects, by sounds, by music. “
With this unusual show, Dylan Corlay manages to free himself from the shackles of classical music and makes it accessible to as many people as possible.
