Dune 3 and the adaptation of Nuclear War: A Scenario | (Big) projects in sight for Denis Villeneuve

Denis Villeneuve will likely continue his conquest of Hollywood in the years to come. According to American media, the Quebec director is not only developing the third chapter of Dunebut he is also in discussions with the production company Legendary Entertainment to adapt the book Nuclear War: A Scenario At the movie theater.


The news was announced by Deadline Thursday, then confirmed by Variety.

Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen, Nuclear War: A Scenario was published on March 26. The book, based on dozens of interviews with military and civilian experts, tells the story of what the end of the world as we know it would look like following a nuclear war.

According to Variety, Denis Villeneuve is currently in talks with the American studio to direct, adapt or produce the film, still in collaboration with his partner Tanya Lapointe. Legendary Entertainment also confirmed working with Denis Villeneuve on the third film of Duneafter the resounding success of the second.

Dune: Part Two has collected some 630 million worldwide to date and is still showing five weeks after its release. It is, as of today, the most profitable film of 2024, recalls Variety. The first movie, Dunehad collected 402 million.
