Duhaime officially launches his campaign… before the election is called

Several hundred enthusiastic activists were present at the “official launch” of the campaign of the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ), even before the elections were called.

“PCQ, PCQ”, chants the crowd with enthusiasm, while waiting for the arrival of Anne Casabonne, candidate in the riding of Iberville, in Montérégie.

The leader of the party, Éric Duhaime, is a man “calm, logical and who has an extremely acute sense of democracy”, says Olivier Pry, wearing a cap and a sweater bearing the effigy of the PCQ. The 55-year-old believes that this is not the case with other party leaders.

“I was deceived by the political party for which I voted”, he adds in reference to his choice of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ), in 2018. “I did not vote for everything that François Legault did, I did not vote for a government that was going to put democracy on hold. »

Earlier, a truck reading “Libres chez nous” was greeted to the applause of activists standing in front of the Complexe Capitale Hélicoptère, near Quebec City’s Jean-Lesage airport.

Inside, the booming music warmed the room while waiting for Éric Duhaime to arrive. Vicky Cyr, a voter in the riding of Charlesbourg, in Quebec, strongly asserts that she will vote for the PCQ and not for the CAQ as she did in the last election.

The government of François Legault has “stretched the rubber band” during the pandemic with regard to sanitary measures, launches the 42-year-old woman, met in front of a table where there is a bottle of hand sanitizer.
