(Sag Harbor) A New York judge suspended singer Justin Timberlake’s driver’s license Friday during a virtual court appearance on Long Island.
Timberlake has pleaded not guilty to drunken driving.
Police arrested Timberlake on June 18 after they said he ran a stop sign and swerved out of his lane.
The former NSYNC singer, who is touring Europe, said little during his remote arraignment.
His lawyer, Edward Burke, argued that Timberlake was not drunk and that the case should be dropped.
“The facts remain, he was not intoxicated,” Burke argued Friday, according to Newsday. “I repeat: Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated and we are confident that this charge, this criminal charge, will be dismissed.”
Sag Harbor Village Judge Carl Irace suspended Timberlake’s license and threatened to impose a gag order on Burke, saying the attorney’s comments to the media were inappropriate.
Judge Irace set the next hearing for August 9.
The case was delayed after Burke said the original charging document did not bear a sergeant’s signature and should be thrown out.
Assistant District Attorney Ashley Cangro said new documents were filed on July 2 that should address the flaw.

Justin Timberlake was arrested on June 18 in Sag Harbor.
Timberlake was driving a BMW in the beach town of Sag Harbor around 12:30 a.m. when a police officer pulled him over and determined he was impaired, according to court documents.
“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his breath had a strong odor of alcohol, he was unable to divide his attention, his speech was slowed, he was unsteady, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” the documents said.
The 43-year-old artist told the officer he had been drinking a martini and was following friends home, the documents show. He was arrested and spent the night in police custody.
