A truck fell about ten meters and ended up lying on its side on Highway 5 in Chelsea overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
Shortly after midnight, a 35-year-old man from Gatineau fell asleep at the wheel of his truck while driving on Autoroute 5. After exiting the road near the viaduct, the vehicle fell by about ten. meters before crashing into Scott Road.
The driver explained to the police that he fell asleep while driving. Sleep would not be solely responsible for the accident since the man failed the breath alcohol tests according to the lieutenant of the Police Department of the Collines-de-l’Outaouais MRC, Josée Foreste.
The man is due to appear in court in March 2022. In the meantime, his license is suspended for 90 days.
