Drummondville: Highway 20 to reopen in both directions

Closed due to a risk of subsidence at exit 181, Highway 20 in Drummondville, in Centre-du-Québec, was reopened in both directions overnight from Sunday to Monday.

“Full reopening #A20 in Drummondville in both directions,” said the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) on Twitter.

“The ministry thanks road users for their understanding and patience,” added the MTQ in the same tweet.

The westbound A-20 was reopened at the end of the evening, while the paving of the eastbound lanes was about to be completed, the MTQ previously said.

Excavation work began Sunday morning by the contractor in charge of the site under the supervision of the MTQ, after a start of subsidence caused the day before.

Some 43,000 vehicles pass through this critical stretch of highway between Quebec and Montreal every day, according to a spokesperson for the MTQ.
