Drug war: signs of crumbling in the clan of kingpin Dave “Pic” Turmel

This is what our Bureau of Investigation learned from sources familiar with Operation Scandaleux, where several police forces supported the Sûreté du Québec in order to curb the wave of armed attacks in the drug war that the Turmel’s gang has been waging against the Hells Angels for a year.

Authorities have made at least 32 arrests since February 23.

According to our sources, the confessions and collaboration of so many accused are a telling sign that the loyalty of the troops of Turmel, the young leader of the BFM (Blood Family Mafia), is crumbling.

Indeed, it is rare for such a large proportion of suspects targeted during a police raid to agree to help investigators by making statements.

Moving away from “Pic”

We can deduce from this that these voluble defendants are seeking to distance themselves from “Pic” Turmel, while hoping that their collaboration with the police will eventually result in more lenient justice.

Thus, investigators were able to learn a host of details about the planning of plots and intimidation methods of the BFM, according to our sources.

Golden Rule

Usually, police do not have as much success when they question traffickers and thugs linked to seasoned criminal organizations, such as the Hells Angels and the Montreal mafia.

The order of silence in such circumstances is a golden rule within these dominant factions of organized crime in the country and their subordinates are not very talkative.

Interpol is waiting

Dave Turmel, who has been wanted by the Quebec police since July 2023 for drug trafficking and armed assault, is still on the run outside the country and is currently hiding in Portugal, from where he directs his remote war against Quebec hells, according to our information.

As of Thursday, the 27-year-old kingpin was still not the subject of an international wanted notice, despite efforts by the Canadian authorities which have been underway for several weeks aimed at obtaining the intervention of the Interpol agency to to be able to better track him in Europe.

Questioned by our Bureau of Investigation about the evolution of these approaches, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), which manages the Interpol office in Ottawa, did not wish to comment directly on the Turmel file.
