Hundreds of thousands of dollars in narcotics were seized during two searches carried out in the space of a week, in Magog, in the Eastern Townships.
More than $ 200,000 of methamphetamine and $ 7,500 of cocaine were seized at the end of November by the Régie de police de Memphrémagog (RPM).
Two men have been arrested in these separate cases.
On Tuesday, November 30, Daniel Guillemette, a 28-year-old man was intercepted on the road smuggling methamphetamines in Magog with another individual.
A search of his home was then carried out by initiated crime investigators, including investigators specializing in the fight against cannabis trafficking, drugs and contraband tobacco from the Police Department of Sherbrooke and the RPM.
In total, investigators seized 52,671 methamphetamine tablets, valued at $ 210,684 and worth $ 48,320 of dried cannabis casseroles (18,877 lbs).
They also raided narcotics manufacturing equipment and $ 2,619.70 in Canadian money.
Ms. Guillemette appeared while remaining in detention. The other individual in this case, a 27-year-old man, was released on a promise to appear.
Domestic violence and drugs
On November 27, following an arrest for assault by strangulation, forcible confinement and common assault on a young woman, the RPM obtained a search warrant to search the residence of the suspect, a man of 21 years.
At the time of his arrest, the offender, known to the police, was at the victim’s home when he was already under an undertaking not to communicate with her, which earned him an additional charge of breach of contract. conditions.
During the search, investigators found, among other things, 302 grams of cocaine, approximately $ 7,500 in cash and a brass knuckle.
The man appeared in the Court of Quebec on domestic violence charges and remained in custody for the rest of the process. His case concerning possession of cocaine and prohibited weapons will be submitted in the coming days to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions.
