Drug trafficking: in Dijon, a man dies after being hit by a stray bullet
Drug trafficking: in Dijon, a man dies after being hit by a stray bullet – (France 2)
In Dijon, Côte-d’Or, Sunday November 26, a father died, hit by a stray bullet. With this new tragedy, the number of collateral victims of drug trafficking in 2023 rises to five deaths in France. This situation worries residents of sensitive neighborhoods.
Monday November 27, for the second evening in a row, CRS deployed in several districts of Dijon (Côte-d’Or). They enter building lobbies with dogs looking for drugs. The stated objective is to stop the spread of drug trafficking, 48 hours after the death of a father killed in his apartment. After the shooting, 60 shell casings were found. At the home of a Ukrainian family, a bullet passed through the living room.
An increase in homicides and attempted homicides
“In my daughter’s room too, the window broke”, testifies this mother. His daughter says: “I woke up because I heard a noise. (…) My mom protected me.” There had already been a shooting against the backdrop of drug trafficking in 2019. The lessor says he alerted the authorities. “We contacted the prosecutor on this point”indicates Jean-François Macaigne, director of Grand Dijon Habitat.
This resident of Dijon is the fifth collateral victim of drug trafficking in 2023, after a 10-year-old child in Nîmes (Gard) or a 24-year-old student in a district of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). At the time, the Minister of the Interior went to Marseille. A white march had been organized. But according to parents of students, traffic would have resumed as if nothing had happened. In France, the number of homicides or attempted homicides linked to drug trafficking has increased by 57% in 2023.
