A septuagenarian was found dead in a lake near Cloridorme, in the Gaspé, a few hours after he went fishing on Tuesday evening.
The man had gone to Lac Écureuil during the day to fish alone on a boat.
Worried not to see him return after a few hours, a member of his family started looking for him at the end of the day. It was he who made the macabre discovery around 6:30 p.m.
“The body of the man was floating next to the boat. It is believed that it capsized and that he was unable to get back on board,” said Claude Doiron, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The victim was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. There would be no criminal element in this case.
