Water collectors distributed free of charge to residents to deal with drought, this is the initiative launched in Verdun in the Meuse. This concerns several municipalities.

A water collector allows a pensioner to water his vegetable garden all year round with rainwater. The collector was offered by the community and changed their habits. The agglomeration has already distributed 600 water collectors and will accelerate the movement. To save even more water, the agglomeration of Verdun (Moselle) organizes the distribution of kits with simple accessories inside.

22% water savings achieved

The Cissoko family discovers one of these kits. It contains a sparkling wine that just needs to be inserted into the tap. With it, the flow goes from 10 liters per minute to only 6 liters. The kit also contains a bag, which once filled, allows less water to be used in the toilets each time you flush. The savings policy put in place is beginning to prove its worth. “We have managed to reduce the territory’s water consumption by 22%, i.e. approximately 200,000m3 per year”explains Jean-François Thomas, president of the Agglomeration of Verdun in charge of water.
