Like many countries around the world, France lacks water. The precipitation deficit reached 25% in April. The drought is already affecting 10 departments of France and the temperatures forecast for the week will make things worse.
Between dry lands and crops at a standstill, in France, the lack of rain. In Joucques, a small village in the Bouches-du-Rhône, it has only rained three times since the beginning of the year and the inhabitants are anxiously scrutinizing the level of the river which crosses the town. This resident admits to being concerned and believes that “what happens today will happen again“. In France, in 2022, it rained 35% less than last year.
Therefore, the use of water had to be limited in the town for a month, as in 10 French departments. This early heat wave even suffocates the entire planet. All continents are affected, and East Africa sees at least 20 million people facing the risk of famine. “This drought is very different from previous ones, we have never suffered this way“, testifies an Ethiopian woman.
