Moroccan international Romain Saïss has signed up for two seasons with Besiktas Istanbul, after six years in Wolverhampton (England), the Turkish club announced on Friday. The 32-year-old centre-back will receive 1.8 million euros a year, and his contract includes an optional third season, Besiktas said in a statement. Native of Bourg-de-Péage, the captain of the Atlas Lions (60 caps) was trained at AS Valencia, before playing for Clermont Foot, Le Havre AC and Angers SCO. The Franco-Moroccan then joined Wolverhampton in 2016, with whom he was crowned champion of the English second division during the 2017-2018 season, before joining the Premier League. Besiktas, coached by Frenchman Valérien Ismaël, finished sixth in the championship this season, a disappointing result for the “Black Eagles”, authors of the cup-championship double the previous year.
