Driver drives into FBI fence in Atlanta

A motorist attempted to enter the grounds of the FBI offices in Atlanta in the United States on Monday afternoon by driving into the security fence, according to information from the American government agency published by CNN.

The incident took place shortly after noon, said FBI spokeswoman Jenna Sellitto.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released by authorities, is not associated with the government agency.

He allegedly tried to follow an employee who works in the FBI offices before rushing and ramming his vehicle into the protective barriers of the main entrance.

The latter did not comment on the motives of the incident when he was arrested at the scene, authorities informed via CNN.

The suspect was treated by the Dekalb City Police Department and is currently at a hospital for evaluation.

The bomb squad investigated the vehicle and did not find anything that would pose a danger to personnel, according to statements by a second FBI spokesman, Tony Thomas.

Fortunately, no staff members were injured, Mr Thomas confirmed.

The investigation by the American authorities is still trying to discover the context in which this event took place.
